Boston named worst-driving major city in the country

Boston is first again, but many residents might not be happy with this one as the city has been named the worst-driving major city in the United States by an insurance company. A study was conducted by Allstate of 200 major cities across the country. The study found that drivers in Boston were most likely to get into an accident in 2017.

So, by looking at the data released by Allstate, the worst drivers in the country live, work and play in Boston. Well, at least the worst drivers with Allstate as their insurance company are found in the city of Boston. The data released also shows that the drivers in Boston are getting worse.

The data from the study found that drivers in Boston were 80 times more likely to file an accident claim compared to the national average. Compared to the rate Allstate found in its study in 2016, that's an increase of 12 percent. Compared to the rate found in the 2015 study it is a 22 percent increase. In those two previous years Boston drivers were rated the worst in the nation.

Allstate data shows that the average driver reports a collision to their insurance company every 10 years. For Boston, the number is every 3.6 years. As of the 2014 Allstate study, Boston drivers were rated at 30 percent more likely than the national average to file an accident claim. That year Boston drivers came in second on the list to Worcester.

This year, Worcester's driving rate came in third in the country, surpassing Baltimore. New England as a whole was represented well in the country's top 10 list for worst drivers. Springfield, Providence and New Haven all made the list of the top 200. Bridgeport, Connecticut also made the list, beating out all other New England towns.

Dealing with the aftermath of a car accident is no picnic. That's why you should consult with an experienced personal injury attorney who can answer your questions, guide you through the process of filing a claim and help you deal with insurance companies.
