Driver indicted after deadly accident near tavern

A man from Connecticut was allegedly in a tavern parking lot in Rhode Island and then sped out into the road. The incident happened near Cady's Tavern.

Reports claim that he "peeled out" as he tried to pull out onto the street. As a result, he was involved in a car accident that killed an elderly man who was 73 years old. His wife was in the car with him, and she was seriously injured in the crash as well.

Police put the blame on the younger driver. He is just 27 years old, and he said that he lost control and hit the couple's vehicle.

The man has now been indicted on charges related to that crash. His case went before a grand jury in Providence, and the jury decided it was worth having a trial on charges of causing serious bodily injury and driving to endanger resulting in a fatality.

The young man has not made an official comment yet, as of the most recent reports. He will have an arraignment on the seventh of February.

It is worth noting that, thought the accident happened as he pulled out of a tavern parking lot, these reports do not indicate whether or not alcohol use played a role in the wreck.

It's always tragic when a loved one is killed. When another loved one suffers serious injuries at the same time, the family can be left with incredible financial responsibilities, from funeral costs to medical bills. That's why it's so important for them to know all of the legal options that they have.
